Panu Laine

Panu Laine is a former President and Delegate of the Finnish Chess Federation (2012 - 2013) and has been a member of the Board of Finnish Correspondence Chess since 2011. He has also been President of the Finnish Chess Historic Association from its founding in 2014.

He holds an M.Sc in Electrical Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology and is a widely recognized professional in the space of electronic payments. He has held various senior positions including as CIO of Luottokunta (acquired by Nets in 2012).

He is currently a Senior Business Architect for Nets A/S (the 2nd largest payment card processor in Europe) where he has focussed on overhauling the payment card processing infrastructure of the company across Finland. His business experience and familiarity with payment processes makes him exceptionally well suited to the role of treasurer.

At his peak, Panu was a Candidate Master level player with a peak rating of 2235 and he is a National level arbiter as well as local organiser of many chess events. He is also a prolific writer and has authored more than 200 articles in various chess magazines and periodicals including the New in Chess Yearbook.
