IO Paul Spiller is currently President of the Oceania Chess Confederation (OCC). As a former president of the New Zealand Chess Federation and current vice-president, he has represented his country numerous times at the FIDE General Assembly.

Paul had 40 years of organisational and administrative experience in chess and, as part of his duties as OCC president, he has organised two Oceania Zonal Championships and successfully campaigned to secure sponsorship for both events. Paul has also previously served as Zone 3.6 president, having been elected to this position at the Olympiad in Tromso in 2014.

Paul has organised numerous high-profile exhibition matches, one notable example being a four-game exhibition match between Australian Grandmaster David Smerdon and New Zealand International Master Puchen Wang. He is a FIDE International Organiser and holds the playing title of Candidate Master.

Outside of chess, Paul currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Hammer Hardware Group, a subsidiary of Mitre 10 New Zealand, the largest retail hardware group in New Zealand.
